Mass Readings: Acts 1:12-14/1 Peter 4:13-16/John 17:1-11a
We talk to others every day — family, friends, colleagues at work — but it’s our daily communication with God that’s most important. As you know, prayer is how we visit with the Lord. After the Ascension, the apostles and other disciples of Jesus realized that since Jesus was no longer physically present, prayer would be essential.
Today’s first reading says they gathered and devoted themselves to regular prayer. Similarly, in today’s Gospel Jesus prays to the Father for those He’ll leave behind. Imitating Jesus, we contemporary disciples are called to center our lives in prayer, our daily communication with our Heavenly Father.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me make the time, and take the time, to talk to and listen to You.
