Traveling Mercies

In today’s Gospel Luke says, “Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah.” I like to take mysteries of the rosary and unite them with intercessory prayer needs. So when I’m praying this second Joyful Mystery, I often focus on how strenuous and risky Mary’s trip must have been. I blend that awareness with a need for today — for safe travels for myself or anyone I know who’s away from home.

This summer my family will gather for a huge reunion. I’ll be pondering Mary’s visit with her cousin and praying for safe travels and abundant blessings during our time together. What about you? Do you know someone who’s away from home? Mary understands the exhaustion and the risks. She can pray for blessings and traveling mercies.

Prayer: Mother Mary, I ask your prayers for all who are away from home, especially:___________.
