Mass Readings: Acts 25:13b-21/John 21:15-19
Reconciled to Christ
We’ve all heard the expression “to error is human, to forgive is divine.” The apostles, those first called by Jesus, are appropriately called saints, but they were far from perfect. After his infamous three-fold denial of the Lord, Peter was devastated when he realized what he had done. But Jesus, the ever compassionate one, gives him another chance, an opportunity to redeem himself, and Peter takes full advantage of it.
We all sin and are in need of forgiveness, from family, friends, and certainly God. When the opportunity arises for us to be forgiven, let’s grasp that moment and never allow it to pass by. The often forgotten sacrament of penance provides the opportunity of a lifetime to reconnect with God and the Church. Let’s find reconciliation with God this day.
Prayer: Lord help me to forgive others as You always forgive me.
