Nearly four months ago, those of us at Our Sunday Visitor celebrated the launch of our newly redesigned website, OSV.com. Immediately upon arrival, visitors are greeted with a fresh, clean look and an abundance of information. It’s truly a one-stop shop for all your OSV needs, from OSV Newsweekly articles to books and other periodicals.
But here are a few things about the website you might not know. One of my favorite features is the topical navigation, enabling visitors to search by keywords classified under the umbrellas of “The Church,” “My Faith” and “Today’s Issues.”
Each article has been carefully and thoughtfully categorized and tagged to enable readers to dive deeply into a subject of interest. It’s really an incredible feature and resource for those browsing the site.
Another spruced up element is the Daily Take blog. Formerly located on a separate site, we brought Daily Take back into the fold at OSV.com and have slowly been rolling out new features.
Each day (usually!) starts out with the Editor’s Notebook, in which I round up the daily Catholic headlines from at home and abroad.
We’ve also introduced a mailbag feature, where someone on the editorial team will post and respond to a recent Letter to the Editor each Wednesday.
In addition, on Tuesdays, we will post a “Top 7” list, which will round up seven things relevant to the Faith we think will be of particular interest to our readers.
We’ll also have blog posts from our Newsweekly authors and from OSV staff, weekly videos and book excerpts. And each Friday, we’ll start your weekend off right with the posting of that weekend’s Scripture column by Carl Olson.
We hope these offerings will help you grow spiritually and intellectually and also offer a bit of fun along the way.
Our website also links directly to our many social media profiles, including our presence on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google Plus, YouTube and more. Basically, if it’s available, we’ve probably taken advantage of it and then some.
On Facebook alone we have a “main” Our Sunday Visitor page, but also one for those interested solely in parish products or in curriculum. And, yes, we have a page specifically dedicated to OSV Newsweekly.
One of our most popular features this Lent has been the In Focus on “Praying Your Way through Lent.” For those reading the print edition, we hope you pulled out the insert and continue to follow along as we progress through the season. For those reading online, we have an interactive graphic on our website, as well as graphical posts on social media each week.
Whether you’re with us online or in print, we value you, and we hope you keep reading. As always, you can reach me with your thoughts at firstname.lastname@example.org or on Twitter @GretchenOSV.
