Good and Life-saving
By Jewish law it was unlawful to cure on the Sabbath or even to apply a remedy for illness unless there was danger of death. Jesus is brought a man with a withered hand in today’s Gospel and the Pharisees wait to see if He will violate the law by healing the man. But they have no answer for Jesus when He asks them if it is lawful to do good and to save life on the Sabbath. The affirmative answer is self-evident. Jesus cures the man and the angry Pharisees sulk away to plot against Jesus and put Him to death.
Today is a day dedicated to Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. I join in prayer with all of you that good and life-saving laws someday will safeguard these little ones.
Prayer: Compassionate God, I place in your hands the over 3,000 unborn children aborted in America today.
