Mass Readings: 1 Corinthians 15:1-8/John 14:6-14
In today’s Gospel, Philip says to Jesus, “Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” Do you know anyone who says things like this? Who basically says, “Show me, then I’ll believe. Give me proof that God exists, and that will be enough.” God offers us the gift of faith. What do we do with those who, instead, look for divine drama or scientific proof? Resist the urge to argue or write them off as hopeless. Instead, listen, love, and pray. Then place the results in God’s hands.
You never know what fruit your efforts will bear. Miracles do happen. Philip didn’t begin to grasp Jesus’ words at the Last Supper until the Holy Spirit came upon him (and others) at Pentecost. After that he became a man of faith.
Prayer: Lord, I entrust the following people to Your care:_____________. Pour out Your Spirit upon them.
