National Marriage Week USA begins today, Feb. 7, encompasses World Marriage Day on Feb. 9 and culminates on Valentine’s Day Feb. 14.
According to Buffalo Bishop Richard J. Malone, chairman of the USCCB Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth, National Marriage Week is “an opportunity to celebrate the gift and blessing of marriage and to affirm and support engaged couples.
Since 2002, Feb. 7-14 has been dedicated to strengthening marriages in the United States. Also participating are the United Kingdom (where it originated), the Czech Republic, Hungary, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Australia.
In a news release, the USCCB identified a variety of resources for National Marriage Week listed by Bishop Malone, including a daily virtual retreat available through the bishops’ For Your Marriage Facebook page.
He encouraged visiting For Your Marriage (or Por Tu Matrimonio) and Marriage: Unique for a Reason. You can also check out National Marriage Week USA.
