Mass Readings: 2 Kings 24:8-17/Matthew 7:21-29
Buildings, ideas, and even organizations require a firm foundation. Huge structures require a base that goes deep into the ground. Ideas that promote the common good and move society toward harmony are based on principles that have been accepted for centuries. And worthwhile and successful organizations are built on the principles and methods of earlier groups.
Similarly, our faith, as the Gospel says, must be built on the rock who is Jesus Christ. He’s the source of our Church; He’s the inspiration which helps us to continue to live in ways that bring us and others closer to God. Contemporary ideologies and ideas think they have the answer, but the rock foundation of our faith must always be in Christ.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to always find strength and hope in Your love and teaching.
