Q. Does the Church teach that the Holy Spirit is at work in all people, or just Christians?
J.G., East Moriches, N.Y.
A. Here’s a reply from TCA columnist Father Ray Ryland, Ph.D., J.D:
Life itself is a gift of God. The mere fact of a person’s existence reflects the working of God’s Spirit in that person. But through their baptism and confirmation, Christians receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in a new and uniquely powerful measure.
