Catholics around the world try to sacrifice more, pray more and give more during Lent. While this can be tough, ideally it will be a fruitful experience. Though it may be tempting, we shouldn’t go back to the way things were before Lent. We should continue to break sinful habits and build virtue. Increased prayer time especially can help ground us in a deeper habit of prayer.
Next week is Holy Week. Maybe it’s time for us to start thinking about how we’re going to make our Lenten transformation sustainable. One idea is to join a small prayer group or Bible study at your parish. Or just call up a few friends and form a group. Hold each other accountable. Encourage one another. Continue your journey toward Christ together.
Each week during Lent I am sharing a quick tip on each of the three disciplines of the season: prayer, fasting and almsgiving. So tune in throughout the week for more ideas! This is the last week of Lent before Holy Week. I pray you make it count.
