Who we are: A bimonthly publication of Our Sunday Visitor.

What we publish: Daily reflections/meditations based on the Scripture readings for the Roman Catholic Mass of the day.

Our mission: To promote personal spirituality by encouraging and inspiring a deeper appreciation of the Faith.

Our readers: Catholics, although the writing should be relevant to other Christians.

Our writers: We use Catholic writers only. Our writers have a full and up-to-date knowledge of Catholic practice and belief.

The nitty-gritty:

  • A writer is assigned for one complete month of material.
  • Each day features a reflection/meditation and short prayer. The prayer can be no more than 15 words. The meditation must be between 125 and 135 words. We use the New American Bible for Catholics with Revised New Testament.
  • A reflection/meditation is based on either a quote or theme from the Mass readings (with an emphasis on the Gospel), or on the saint’s or liturgical feast celebrated that day. Either angle also gently challenges the reader to apply the lesson, suggestion or observation being presented.

If you are interested in writing for us: Please first review our publication before mailing a cover letter, one week’s sample of meditations/reflections and prayers, and a S.A.S.E. to the above address.

No other freelance material is accepted.

We do NOT publish articles, features, profiles, poetry or fillers.
