Mass Readings: Ezekiel 36:23-28/Matthew 22:1-14
There is nothing in the world, is there, like the feeling of being wanted, being needed, being affirmed? I know, even in my own retirement from full-time work, I’m simply thrilled when I’m asked to write an article, a book, or a group of reflections such as these. We all want and need to be wanted. We want to belong.
Both readings today speak of this fundamental longing. We see that God, too, wants to be wanted. And when God is shown that He is wanted, look out! Indeed, we’ll be given a new heart and a new spirit. God says that we will be His people, and He will be our God. We can’t get a better deal on belonging than that!
Prayer: Dear Lord, may I always be worthy of You being my God.
