Mass Readings: Acts 13:26-33/John 14:1-6

Worry, Worry, Worry

If there’s ever a contest for World’s Best Worrier, I’ll compete for Worry Queen. I’ll wow the judges with a spreadsheet, starting with macro (e.g., global warming) and ending with micro (e.g., that scratchiness in my throat. Am I getting sick?) In today’s Gospel, Jesus says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” One thing helps me do that: When a worry starts circling on the racetrack of my mind, I mentally release it to God. I place it before Him and say, “This is Your problem, Lord, not mine.” This gives me a sense of peace plus a clearer head to discern what — if anything — I’m called to do about the situation now. The result? Less worry; better discernment.

What about you? How do you keep your heart from being troubled? What works for you?

Prayer: Jesus, Savior, today I set before You these worries:__________________.
