You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation. Isaiah 12 (see 3)
Mass Readings: Ephesians 3:2-12 / Luke 12:39-48
My wife recently returned from a long stay in her home country. I knew she didn’t want to return to a messy house, but I procrastinated. The day she arrived, I went on a cleaning binge, but many projects took longer than expected, and I soon realized I wasn’t going to get everything done before she showed up.
At first glance, she thought the house looked good. Soon, however, my shortcuts were exposed, and she became frustrated. “You know I didn’t want to have to clean when I got home,” she said. I felt ashamed, not only because I had let her down, but because I knew better. It’s this kind of negligence of which today’s Gospel speaks. If we know better, we must do better, for the Lord’s sake.
Prayer: Holy Lord, help me do what’s right.
