My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?--Psalm 22:2
Mass readings: Matthew 21:1-11 / Isaiah 50:4-7 / Philippians 2:6-11 /Matthew 26:14-27:66 or 27:11-54
I like to say that I've ''never been burdened with wealth,'' but there are times I wouldn't mind having a few more dollars, or more than a few. Then I wonder what kind of a rich man I would be. I don't think I'd have the courage, or the readiness to do the task myself, that Joseph of Arimathea displays in today's reading of the Passion. It makes sense that he would be the one to have an audience with Pilate but surely he could have had a servant take care of those other tasks, including wrapping Jesus' body and placing it in the tomb.
Like you, I'm ''rich'' in a lot of different ways. And God invites us, just as He did Joseph, to use -- to ''spend'' -- those talents and gifts, and not simply send someone else.
Prayer: Please, Lord, give me a generous heart and a willingness to share all that You've given me.
