The Lord will remember his covenant for ever. — Psalm 111:5
Mass Readings: Galatians 3:7-14 / Luke 11:15-26
Early in our marriage, my wife and I got in a big argument before I left for work. After my anger died down during my commute, I couldn’t think about whether I was right or wrong, but was completely disturbed by the fact that I was no longer in unity with my wife. That whole day I felt the effects of a house divided. I knew in my gut that Jesus’ words in today’s Gospel are true: “a divided house cannot stand.”
My wife also felt the adverse consequences of division, and that evening, cooler heads and warmer hearts prevailed. We worked out the issue at hand. If only this desire for unity carried over into every relationship in my life, especially the one with Jesus!
Prayer: Spirit of unity, let me be one with You.
