Blessed be the Lord, my Rock! — Psalm 144:1
Mass Readings: Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 / Luke 9:18-22
We had four children within six years, so when they were small, life was intense and very crazy. I remember feeling like there would never be an end in sight! Ten years, or even five, sounded like a million when I was knee-deep in diapers. When they were teens, it was a much different, but still an intense and crazy life that, again, I thought I’d never survive.
But now that they’re all in their 20s, it honestly seems like it all happened very quickly. In the jumble of memories that is my life, I look back in thanksgiving for the many marks of God’s presence in that chaos. Today’s first reading reminds me that there’s a beautiful rhythm to our lives that only God foresees, and that “He has made everything appropriate to its time.”
Prayer: Lord, help me wisely use the time You give me.
