The Lord will build up Zion again, and appear in all his glory. — Psalm 102:17
Mass Readings: Jeremiah 30:1-2,12-15,18-22 / Matthew 14:22-36 or 15:1-2,10-14
My life involves fears of various kinds. Will my kids grow to be good adults? Will I have enough money to support my family? Will health problems (for me, asthma) become unbearable? Excessive worry leads to unhappiness and a lack of focus on God.
Bishop Fulton Sheen had this to say about today’s Gospel, “Believe the incredible, and you can do the impossible. It is our want of faith that holds us back, even as Peter. When did he begin to sink? The Gospel gives us the reason. He took account of the winds; he began reading some surveys; it was established statistically that 99.44% of mankind cannot walk on water. All the incredulities were in the winds. When he took his eyes off Christ, Peter began to sink.”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, increase my faith and give me courage when I’m afraid.
