Do not forget the poor, O Lord. — Psalm 10:12
Mass Readings: Micah 2:1-5 / Matthew 12:14-21
The old saying “give the devil his due” came to mind when I saw the beginning of today’s first reading. They “plan iniquity, and work out evil on their couches.” (Even before they get up in the morning!) “In the morning light they accomplish it.” (Early birds!) “They covet fields, and seize them; houses, and take them. They cheat an owner of his house, a man of his inheritance.” (Ready for any evil, any time)
What about those who want to do good? How hard do we work at that? What do we plan to do (today!) and how quickly do we go about doing it? No matter our particular circumstances, God provides ways for us to do good throughout our day if we keep our eyes and our hearts open.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me do the good You want me to do today.
