To the upright I will show the saving power of God. — Psalm 50:23
Mass Readings: Amos 5:14-15,21-24 / Matthew 8:28-34
These past couple of months were a little tough for me. There’s my father’s birthday in early May, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, and now Independence Day. Daddy died a year ago, on June 24 at the age of 97. He was ready to go and had a peaceful death, but how I miss him.
Russ Faudree joined the Navy in 1934 at the age of 20 and was in for 12 years, serving on ships in the South Pacific during the war. It shaped who he was but didn’t limit him to that. He went on to be a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. An electrical engineer, boat-builder and sailor, ham radio operator, sumi-e artist and more. It was men and women like him who made my life in an independent country possible. And I thank God for all of them.
Prayer: Dear Lord, bless and keep safe those who protect us.
