Not to us, O Lord, but to your name give the glory. — Psalm 115:1
Mass readings: Acts 14:5-18 / John 14:21-26
In today’s Gospel Jesus gives us two precious promises. First He promises that if we love Him and demonstrate our love by keeping His Word, He and the Father will make their dwelling place with us. Then He promises to send the Holy Spirit to teach us what we don’t yet understand and remind us of all He’s taught us.
As Christians we have the very life of God within us! At our baptism when we — or our godparents and parents on our behalf — professed our faith and committed ourselves to keeping His Word, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit came to dwell within us. What an amazing gift: God himself is living within each one of us, and the indwelling Spirit of the Living God will always be present to enlighten us and illuminate His Word!
Prayer: Holy Spirit, purify and illuminate our hearts so we may be Your holy dwelling place!
