February 29, Wednesday Lenten Weekday

A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn. — Psalm 51:19

Mass Readings: Jonah 3:1-10 / Luke 11:29-32

God’s Forgiveness

None of us likes to admit it but the reality is we’re all sinners. Even though we’re made in the image and likeness of God, we fall far short of perfection. We do or say things we shouldn’t, and fail to do or say things we should. Fortunately, God is compassionate and is always willing to forgive our transgressions. God forgave the many sins of the people of Nineveh without Jonah saying one word. Yet, as Jesus says in the Gospel, we must be contrite; we must ask for forgiveness.

Lent is the perfect opportunity to seek forgiveness, from family and friends we have hurt, from business colleagues, and most especially from God. Let’s turn to the Lord in our need and be reconciled this day.

Prayer: Lord, help me to forgive and allow others to forgive me.
