The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart. — Psalm 19:9
Mass Readings: James 3:13-18 / Mark 9:14-29
At times contemporary life might seem like “Mission Impossible.” We’re constantly barraged by the realities of our fast-paced society and the many responsibilities we have. Frustrated at times, we might say, “God, I give up; I surrender to the world.” This easily could have been the attitude of the man Jesus encountered in today’s Gospel. Yet, he brought his son to Jesus and received the healing he sought.
We need to listen to Jesus when He claims that all is possible with Him. Alone we’re sure to fail, but with Jesus at our side, assisting us in all our daily endeavors, we’re sure to gain success, possibly not as viewed by the world, but certainly and most importantly through the attainment of eternal life, God’s promise to all who believe.
Prayer: God our Father, help me to always realize that with You all is possible.
