Lord, heal my soul, for I have sinned against you. — Psalm 41:5
Mass Readings: Isaiah 43:18-19,21-22,24-25 / 2 Corinthians 1:18-22 / Mark 2:1-12
Sometimes we may feel abandoned by a company or organization, a family member or close friend, or even God. While human failing can, at times, lead to abandonment, we can be confident, as today’s readings suggest, that God will never abandon us. God reached out to the Hebrews in exile in Babylon and Jesus constantly did the same to those who needed His healing touch, physically, psychologically, or spiritually.
When feelings of loneliness or abandonment come our way, we must turn to God, not away from Him, realizing that His faithfulness is the one enduring reality. May that inspire us to act similarly toward those with whom we walk the road faith. Our response is awaited.
Prayer: Lord, never let me abandon the people and responsibilities in my life.
