The Lord hears the cry of the poor. — Psalm 34:7
Mass Readings: James 2:1-9 / Mark 8:27-33
Who is Jesus? This is certainly a classic question that the Lord Himself raises to His apostles. Some believed Jesus was the reincarnation of John the Baptist; others thought he was one of the prophets of the past who had returned. Peter’s confession of faith, “You are the Messiah,” demonstrated great belief and understanding.
Who is Jesus for us today? Is He our best friend, our companion along the road of life, or our Lord and Savior? Jesus should be all of these things. Unquestionably He is the Son of God, but He is also our refuge and strength, who celebrates our triumphs and comforts us in our defeats. Jesus must be all things for all time, in the ordinary and extraordinary. Let’s rediscover His presence today.
Prayer: Lord, help me to find You in my brothers and sisters.
