Who is this king of glory? It is the Lord! — Psalm 24:8
Mass Readings: Malachi 3:1-4 / Hebrews 2:14-18 / Luke 2:22-40 or 2:22-32
Faithfulness to family, nation and most especially to God is an essential, yet at times fleeting virtue. Too often today we hear many stories of betrayal of spouses, family members, friends, and so on. The lack of fidelity that’s often seen today is countered by the faithfulness present in today’s readings. The Letter to the Hebrews tells us that Jesus came among us to show us how to be faithful. Simeon and Anna were faithful to God and so were rewarded with the opportunity to see Jesus at the time of His presentation in the Temple.
The rapid pace and temptations of contemporary life challenge our basic desire to be faithful. Today’s feast must be our catalyst to renew our commitment to others and most especially to God.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to remain faithful and not count the cost.
