Give glory and eternal praise to him. — Daniel 3:59
Mass Readings: Daniel 7:15-27 / Luke 21:34-36
The readings leading up to Advent include a lot of warnings about the end of our lives and the end of time. This year the American bishops have been offering some “warnings,” too. Tomorrow parts of the Mass won’t sound quite the same as they have for the last four decades or so. It will be the first day of a new translation of the Roman Missal, the book that has the prayers for Mass.
Just as when an adjustment was made so many years ago, some people will immediately like the new one and some will pine for the old. Most of us, I suspect, will quickly get used to the changes and find them helpful as we pray. Most importantly, as the bishops put it, these are: “new words: a deeper meaning, but the same Mass.”
Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for being present in the Eucharist.
