November 22, St. Cecilia

Give glory and eternal praise to him. — Daniel 3:59

Mass Readings: Daniel 2:31-45 / Luke 21:5-11

Prophesy Through Time and Place

Daniel’s God-given ability to read the meaning of the King’s dreams is a favorite Bible story of mine. The young man speaks to the King about his dream of a terrifying statue with a golden head, silver chest and arms, bronze belly and thighs, iron legs, and “feet partly iron and partly tile.” A huge stone shattered the feet causing the statue to crumble and blow away!

What a unique way God chose to teach! Daniel interpreted the dream to mean that the King was the golden head; inferior kingdoms that would take his place were bronze and iron. The feet, partly tile and partly iron, signified a divided kingdom. The great stone represents a kingdom in the future that shall stand forever, prophesied many years before Christ, yet clearly telling of Him.

Prayer: Thank You, dear Lord, for prophesy throughout the ages that have pointed to You.
