My Most Precious Trust 

In today’s Gospel Jesus strongly warns us that “to cause one of these little ones to sin” is a very serious matter. He goes on to say that if we do that, “it would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea.” 

When my children were small, I would wind up a music box for them beside their bed at bedtime. It sang: “When I lay me down to sleep, fourteen angels watch do keep, two to whom it’s given, to guide my steps to Heaven.” This reminded me that their precious souls were placed in my hands for a little while on earth: my most precious trust. 

Prayer: Lord God, please keep all little ones safe.
