The Lord will judge the world with justice. — Psalm 9:9
Mass readings: Joel 1:13-15; 2:1-2 / Luke 11:15-26
I still have and use the rosary my teacher, Sister Mildred, made and gave me when I was in high school. Its black, pearlescent beads are still beautiful. My use of the rosary has waxed and waned several times since I received it. That pattern is probably true for many Catholics. Several decades ago, many of us discovered or rediscovered liturgical prayer, including the Divine Office, and praying with Scriptures. If pressed for an explanation of our relatively Rosary-less prayer life, we mumbled, “Just sort of got away from it.” A considerable loss.
Catholics who think of “getting back to the Rosary” may feel sheepish, as though Mary might be upset, scowl at them and say, “Just exactly how do you explain your absence?” How utterly impossible.
Prayer: Mother Mary, keep me always in your care.
