September 4,  Twenty-Third Sunday

If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. — Psalm 95:8

Mass readings: Ezekiel 33:7-9 / Romans 13:8-10 / Matthew 18:15-20

Christ with Us

“Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Where do I experience these words from today’s Gospel? Of course at Mass, where the Risen Lord is present in His Body and Blood and also in His people: the Body of Christ. I also experience the presence of Christ during prayer team ministry with someone who is seeking healing. Miracles happen in those sessions — sometimes physical healing, more often emotional and spiritual ones. (God surprises us in ways we could not have imagined!) Third, I experience Christ in my midst when I meet with spiritual companions. We dine together, laugh together, share together, pray together.

Those are some ways I experience Christ in my midst. How about you? Where do you experience God?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for always showing up. Thank You for Your presence.
