The Lord comes to judge the earth. — Psalm 96:13
Mass Readings: 1 Thessalonians 1:1-5,8-10 / Matthew 23:13-22
I have in-laws in the Baltimore area and have brought my family often to the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. Dedicated in 1959, it’s an impressive contemporary Gothic structure with a granite exterior, interior arches, and glorious stained-glass windows that bathe the worshipers in colored light. After we attend Mass, my wife, our two sons, and I go back to visit the Lady Chapel, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. There’s a beautiful statue above the altar showing her surrounded by 12 stars as she is lifted into heaven by angels. She wears the crown of her Queenship — the feast that we celebrate today.
As I never tire of telling my boys: the more we know Mary, the more we know Jesus.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You for making Your mother our mother, too.
