His mercy endures forever. — Psalm 136
Mass Readings:Joshua 24:1-13 / Matthew 19:3-12
Today’s first reading features Joshua lining up the country’s leaders and telling them what the Lord has said to him. Simply put, it’s this: “I’m God. You have all the good things you have because of me. And don’t you forget it.”
The truth is, then and now, we humans are more likely to turn to God when times are tough and to let that relationship slide when things are going well. Yes, we play a role in what we accomplish but our God-given gifts and talents — and, often, the personal sacrifices of others, most especially those who have loved us — are what got us to where we are today. And . . . we better not forget it!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for all the wonderful people who have been a blessing in my life.
