July 5, St. Anthony Mary Zaccaria

In justice, I shall behold your face, O Lord. — Psalm 17:15

Mass Readings: Genesis 32:23-33 / Matthew 9:32-38

Work for All

Jesus tells us that the master of the harvest needs more laborers. Today’s saint, Anthony Mary Zaccaria (d. 1538), labored in many ways. He was a medical doctor, then a priest and founder of religious orders, all before an early death at age 37. His orders were unusual in the sixteenth century because they included congregations of men, women, and lay people. (The Lord needs all kinds of workers!)

How are we, how are you, how am I, being called to labor in the harvest at this point in our lives? Certainly, there’s still work to be done. There are people who need help and people who need to see an example of someone truly living the Faith. Today each of us is being called, each of us is being sent.

Prayer: Lord, help me to do my part in Your harvest.
