Let all the earth cry out to God with joy. — Psalm 66:1
Mass readings: Acts 8:26-40 / John 6:44-51
In winter-time Chicago we joke that around here snow falls daily, like the gift of manna from heaven — but it’s a gift we’d like to return. In truth, we can’t imagine living anywhere that doesn’t experience four distinct seasons. Each holds its own charm and challenge. Snow may appear messy and useless, but it waters the evergreens and moistens the soil for spring blooms.
When God sent His people manna, they ate, but still died. As Jesus tells us in the Gospel, He is the true “bread of eternal life.” It is He who feeds us so we may be nourished for the season of eternity.
Prayer: Jesus, our Living Bread, grant us eternal life with You.
