The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. — Psalm 33:5
Mass readings: Acts 2:36-41 / John 20:11-18
Did you notice you’re mentioned in today’s first reading? (Uh oh. Not something bad is it? No. Of course not.) Peter says to the people, “For the promise is made to you and to your children, and to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call.”
You’re “far off” — many years and many miles — from there. And God has called you. So what is His promise? The gift of the Holy Spirit for those who repent and are baptized. (For those of us who are baptized but sin again and again repent.) Simon Peter, the first pope, is telling you the Holy Spirit is there for you. So many years later, so many miles away. Right here, right now.
Prayer: Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts Your faithful.
