November 4 St. Charles Borromeo

Let hearts rejoice who search for the Lord. — Psalm 105:3

Mass reading: Philippians 3:3-8 / Luke 15:1-10

Lost and Found

I’ll never forget the time I lost sight of my two-year-old son in a large toy store. My husband and I each thought the other had him. When we realized he was missing, we raced up and down the aisles until we found him standing just out of view, playing with a toy. Almost 11 years later, the sense of relief and joy I felt is still palpable.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that He came to save the one who has gone missing. He did not come simply to shore up those who already believe but to seek out those who are wandering. For that I’m thankful. Even if I stray from view, I won’t be left to fend for myself. My Shepherd will guide me home.

Prayer: Dear God, never let me wander far from Your loving gaze. Stay with me always.
