October 31, Thirty-First Sunday Ordinary Time

I will praise your name forever, my king and my God. — Psalm 145:(see 1)

Mass Readings: Wisdom 11:22—12:2 / 2 Thessalonians 1:11—2:2 / Luke 19:1-10

Thank God for Good Priests

My parish Catholic calendar tells me today is Priesthood Sunday. How fitting to honor our good priests. In these difficult times, the vast majority have remained ever so faithful. So many talented and fine men have dedicated their lives at great sacrifice to serve the Church, yet we mostly hear of the unfaithful clergy.

In spite of criticism, scandals, cranky parishioners, and belligerent media, they persevere and inspire us. Let us support good priests in their endeavors, and pray daily for them. How fortunate we are to have holy priests. May every Sunday be Priesthood Sunday.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, sustain, guide, and strengthen our hard-working priests.
