How great are the words of the Lord! — Psalm 111:2
Mass Readings: Philippians 1:1-11 / Luke 14:1-6
What would Jesus do? This popular phrase has become a catch phrase for some. Figuring out the will of God when confronted with decisions, large and small, calls for wisdom. According to St. Paul, his prayer is that the Philippians would discern what is of value. It’s all about choices. Discernment is about opting to act in a faith-filled way in our materialistic culture.
Most often we gain insight after earnest, persistent prayer. Reading Scripture or keeping a spiritual journal are also means for personal reflection. Another pertinent question might be, “How does my faith influence my actions?”
Prayer: Jesus, guide us to respond with wisdom to the dilemmas of life.
