You have given your Son rule over the works of your hands. — Psalm 8:7
Mass Readings: Ephesians 1:15-23 / Luke 12:8-12
In today’s Gospel, Jesus says that everyone who acknowledges Him before others will be acknowledged before the angels. There are many ways to recognize God. We, ourselves, give witness to Christ by attending Mass or by our kindness and compassion to others. An overt outward sign might be wearing a cross or medal. Another sign is the Chicago Archdiocese’s recent television ads which, in a gentle, caring way, invite lapsed Catholics to “come home.”
The world needs our witness, whether through outward signs or silent action. We Catholics have the most wonderful gift of all in the Eucharist. Let’s not be shy about enthusiastically sharing our faith with others in an appropriate way.
Prayer: Inspire me, Jesus, to acknowledge You so the angels will be pleased.
