The Lord remembers his covenant forever. — Psalm 105:8
Mass Readings: Galatians 3:22-29 / Luke 11:27-28
Do you hit the mute button on the remote as much as I do? From television to cell phones, from crying babies to barking dogs, we’re assaulted by a cacophony of noise. Then again, in prayer sometimes I do all the talking. Maybe God wishes He had a mute button for me.
Jesus says that those who hear the word of God and observe it are blessed. The dilemma is how to find the time and place for silence. For some it may be turning off the car radio on the drive to work. Others may get up half an hour earlier for a peaceful time. Silence is truly “golden” when attempting prayer.
Prayer: Let us remember, Lord, that You are the friend of silence.
