Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way. — Psalm 139:24
Mass Readings: Galatians 1:13-24 / Luke 10:38-42
Rush, rush, hurry, hurry! The pressure is on all of us. Working moms try to balance demands of job and family. Dads try to balance the budget and pay the bills, while kids trudge off to school with backpacks and more burdens than just those books.
Luke tells us in today’s Gospel that Jesus reprimanded Martha for being anxious and worried about many things. As a housewife, mother and frequent hostess, I find it so easy to identify with Martha. She got the job done. The world needs Marthas. But wasn’t Jesus suggesting that we need to slow down to energize our souls and bodies? Martha’s sister Mary, indeed, had the better part. She took time to listen to Jesus.
Prayer: Lord, help us to slow down, stop worrying, and listen to You.
