The glory of the Lord will dwell in our land. — Psalm 85:(see 10)
Mass Readings: Ezekiel 43:1-7 / Matthew 23:1-12
I suspect that during those many, many days of raising children, every mom has pointed out to her kids, “I’m not the maid around here!” In today’s Gospel, Jesus isn’t telling us to be maids and butlers who are always on-call. He’s saying we need to be aware of others’ needs and help meet them. And more! We have to do that without drawing attention to ourselves, like the scribes and Pharisees did when it came to prayer and following the Law of Moses.
It’s that being of service and humility that lead to “greatness,” meaning grace. And grace, the presence of God within us, is nothing less than our loving Father giving us what we need in order for us to do what He asks us to do. Giving us that . . . and more!
Prayer: God bless all — very tired — moms and dads.
