You have turned from your anger. — Isaiah 12:1
Mass Readings: Ezekiel 16:1-15,60,63 or 16:59-63 / Matthew 19:3-12
Check the day, check the date! It’s Friday the thirteenth. Those who study folklore say how that superstition began is lost in the mists of time. Friday was considered an unlucky day and 13 an unlucky number. Somebody combined the two for a double whammy!
It’s important to realize that some people who don’t understand what the Church teaches, and what Catholics believe, can easily think our religion is nothing but a hodgepodge of superstitions. That puts two obligations on us. First, we need to know the basics so we can explain our beliefs in understandable terms. And, second, we need to truly live what Christ taught because the example we set in our everyday lives is one of the best way to share the Good News.
Prayer: Jesus, help me better live what You taught so I can better help others find new life in You.
