The Lord is king, the Most High over all the earth. — Psalm 97:1 and 9
Mass Readings: Daniel 7:9-10,13-14 / 2 Peter 1:16-19 / Luke 9:28-36
It occurred to me recently that there are times when we’re “transfigured.” When how we look, act, and feel changes because the grandkids pop in. Because a son or daughter calls or sends an e-mail just to visit. Because a spouse, after so many years of marriage!, offers a compliment that obviously comes from the heart. Because a friend listens, because a neighbor offers a cheery greeting, because . . . .
And there are times when we have the power to “transfigure” others by our acts of kindness, our thoughtfulness, our complimenting or listening or greeting. Jesus was transfigured when He basked in the love of His Father. Sometimes, we receive God’s love through others. Sometimes, we give God’s love to others. And, sometimes, both happen at the same time and it’s good to be there!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me reflect Your love to all the people I meet today.
