The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty. — Psalm 93:1
Mass Readings: Isaiah 6:1-8 / Matthew 10:24-33
If God is aware of every sparrow, Jesus says in today’s Gospel, how much more does God know you? “Even all the hairs of your head are counted,” we are told.
When a barber told me I was starting to lose hair, I got slightly depressed and went to barbers less frequently. Fortunately, long hair on men was coming into vogue and I began sporting what my wife, who doesn’t share my fashion sense, claimed to be a “rat tail.” I’m mature enough now to realize that Jesus wasn’t making fun of us baldies (and I go to the barber at least three times a year), but — even if there are fewer hairs for God to count on my particular head — I know He cares for me as much as for those blessed with glorious mops.
Prayer: Father, I marvel at the concern You show for each of Your children.
