February 3, Sts. Blaise and Ansgar

Lord, forgive the wrong I have done.-- Psalm 32:(see 5)

Mass readings: 2 Samuel 24:2,9-17 / Mark 6:1-6

What's Not Seen

Were you ever so close to a situation that you couldn't properly judge it, that all those trees seemed to make it impossible for you to see the forest? Our narrow human ''vision'' gets in the way. Due to some sort of prejudice, stubbornness or pride, the closer one is to a particular situation the more difficult it might be to see what may truly be present. In today's Gospel, the people of Jesus' native town are victims of their own narrow vision.

Most of the saints of the early Church -- like Blaise and Ansgar -- may have left us an incomplete written record, but their efforts are the unseen foundation on which our Church has grown.

Prayer: Lord, have patience with my limits and help me accept them and grow.
