Proclaim God's marvelous deeds to all the nations.--Psalm 96:3
Mass readings: 2 Timothy 1:1-8 or Titus 1:1-5 / Mark 3:31-35
It's fitting that we reflect on the lives of St. Timothy and St. Titus today, the day after celebrating St. Paul's conversion. Both men became bishops and saints and received their gifts of faith through the preaching of St. Paul. Timothy was like a son to him and was entrusted to shepherd the Church communities that Paul himself established. Titus was known as a great peacemaker who was both a Gentile and a non-believer before becoming Paul's disciple.
Today's saints represent the two flocks (Jew and Gentile) that came together to become the believing body that we know as our own Catholic Church. These men were instrumental in carrying out the great commission of Jesus to take the Good News to the ends of the earth. Thank God they did!
Prayer: St. Timothy and St Titus, help us to be effective evangelizers for Christ in the world.
