Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice!-- Psalm 96:11
Mass readings:1 John 2:18-21 / John 1:1-18
Jesus came to redeem the world and to present a way of living consistent with God's plan for us. However, as the evangelist John says in his famous prologue, the very people to whom Jesus came, the Jews, did not accept Him for who He was. They preferred the darkness to the light which Jesus brought.
In 2,000 years, what has human society learned about accepting Jesus? Many people today prefer to live in the darkness of ignorance and sin rather than to accept the light of forgiveness and love given by Jesus. Today, let's make a resolution for 2010 to return to Jesus. Let's make sure that our actions and words are consistent and that they bring people toward Christ. May we never deny our faith in anything we do or say!
Prayer: Jesus, help me be Your faithful follower throughout the new year.
