Exult, you just, in the Lord! Sing to him a new song.-- Psalm 33:1 and 3
Mass readings: Song of Songs 2:8-14 or Zephaniah 3:14-18 / Luke 1:39-45
One of the qualities of divinity is God's omnipresence. God is present in the beauty of a sunrise and sunset, but equally so in the destructive force of a hurricane. He's present in every success achieved and in every failure that we suffer. The prophet Zephaniah speaks of the presence of God in all things. The Visitation story tells us about the ability of John the Baptist and Elizabeth to recognize the presence of God in Mary.
It's easy to find God in triumphs and good times, but more difficult in times of trial, sadness or defeat. In four days God dispels the darkness with the triumph of the light in Jesus. Let's seek the presence of God; let's follow the light today and to life eternal.
Prayer: God, help me to find You in the ordinary and extraordinary events of each day.
